Amanda Oliphant graduated from Liverpool John Moore's University with a BA Hons (1st class) in Fine Art in 2005 followed by a one year Fellowship at Wirral Metropolitan College in 2006, where an exhibition at the Williamson Art Gallery showed an extensive collection of her work. Amanda then undertook further study with an MA in Art as Environment'at Miriad, Manchester Metropolitan University allowing continued research into Art and Ecology.
Amanda's work has developed over a number of years through a wide range of disciplines. Although she may be described as a 'sculptor', her work often takes on other skills where appropriate, including new media, print and installation. Her passion for art continues to lie within the skill of transformtng materials into new creative assemblages and to present new artworks that engage further dialogue, but it is the desire to take her work further into ecological issues that has organically steered it within Art and Ecology.
Being described as a 'manipulator of materials' having a tactile and connective association to the objects and materials being transformed, her varied works are metaphors for exploring associations to the natural world through different mediums. Always highlighting intricacy and detail that would otherwise go unnoticed, these works provoke questioning and new narratives towards our natural surroundings and the fragile existence of man.
